MISSION BRIEF
Exercise Yama Sakura 63 (YS63) will be conducted at Camp Sendai, Japan. This annual command post exercise is co-hosted by U.S. Army Pacific and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. Participants include soldiers from United States Army Pacific, I Corps, and the 25th Infantry Division, and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members from the North East Army. Mission Command Training Centers (MCTCs) in Korea and Fort Lewis, Washington will also be used during this exercise.

Since its inception in 1982, Yama Sakura has focused on the development and refinement of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Force’s efforts in the areas of bilateral planning, coordination, and interoperability.

Yama Sakura underscores a continued commitment by the United States and Japan to work as dedicated partners in support of the U.S.-Japan security alliance and for peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
