Maj. Gen. Jan Piet Wepster

     Maj. Gen. Jan Wepster was born in McMinnville, Oregon. A graduate of Oregon State University in 1963, he served as Deputy Commander, Army National Guard Affairs for US Pacific Area Command in Hawaii from 1994-1996.

     Wepster's other significant assignments include brigade commander for the 41st Infantry Brigade, Oregon Army National Guard in 1985 and Deputy Commander for Reserve Components, Sixth US Army and the Presidio of San Francisco from 1991-1994.

     Among Wepster's awards are the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Meritorious Service Medal. He retired from the Army on 30 June 1996. In civilian life, he owns and operates Wepster Orchard and Nursery in Sheridan, Oregon.

USARPAC MISSION

USARPAC postures and prepares the force for unified land operations, responds to threats, sustains and protects the force, and builds military relationships that develop partner defense capacity in order to contribute to a stable and secure U.S. Pacific Command area of responsibility.
