    Command Sergeant Major Carl M. Lopez was born in Fresno, California. He graduated from Wickenburg High School in Wickenburg, Arizona.

    CSM Lopez graduated from the Basic Airborne School, Jump Master School, Northern Warfare Training School, Jungle Operations Training School, the 82d Airborne Division Noncommissioned Officers' Academy, XVIIIth Airborne Corps NCO Academy, the 3d Army NCO Academy and the U.S. Army Drill Sergeants School. He also graduated from the First Sergeants Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.

    Among his assignments, he served as Senior Instructor, 8th Army Noncommissioned Officers Academy, Camp Jackson, Korea; Facilitator and Deputy Commandant, United States Army First Sergeants Course, Munich, Germany; Command Sergeant Major, 3d Battalion, 27th Infantry, 7th Infantry Division, Fort Ord, California; Joint Task Force Command Sergeant Major, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Command Sergeant Major, 3d Brigade, 7th Infantry Division, Fort Ord, California and Post Command Sergeant Major, Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He assumed the position of Command Sergeant Major of United States Army, Pacific (USARPAC) on 15 September 1995.

    CSM Lopez held a variety of positions in the Republic of Vietnam, Korea, Germany, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Fort Bragg, Fort Gordon, Fort Knox, Fort Bliss, Fort- Ord, and Fort Jackson.

    In September 1998, CSM Lopez left USARPAC for Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he retired from the Army on 1 June 1999. Following his retirement, he became a Military Analyst for MPRI (Military Professional Resources, Inc.), a private contractor based in Alexandria, Virginia. In September 2000, CSM Lopez assumed duties as Senior Military Analyst for NCO Corps Development issues, CUBIC Application Inc., in Bratislava, Slovakia (Slovak Republic). In this position, he worked at the Slovak Ministry of Defense and served on a team tasked to assist Slovakia in the reform and modernization of its Armed Forces. Since March 2010, CSM Lopez has served as CUBIC Application Inc.'s Chief of Operations and Training for E Company Task Force Marshall Cubic Applications Inc, Omega Training Division, at Fort Jackson, SC.

    CSM Lopez's military awards included the Legion of Merit; Bronze Star; Purple Heart; Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal, with one Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Commendation Medal, with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal, with one Oak Leaf Cluster; Good Conduct Medal, eighth award; National Defense Service Medal, with star; Expeditionary Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal, with star; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, with a numeral four; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, with Palm Device; Combat Infantryman Badge; Expert Infantryman Badge; Master Parachutist Badge; and Drill Sergeant Identification Badge.


USARPAC postures and prepares the force for unified land operations, responds to threats, sustains and protects the force, and builds military relationships that develop partner defense capacity in order to contribute to a stable and secure U.S. Pacific Command area of responsibility.
