Command Sgt. Maj. Larry J. Hampton
Command Sergeant Major Larry Hampton enlisted in the Army in 1952 after serving in the Utah National Guard. He is a combat veteran of one tour in Korea and two in Vietnam. Hampton served as Command Sergeant Major for the US Army Western Command (the predecessor of US Army, Pacific) from 1982-1983.
In addition Hampton served as Command Sergeant Major for the 24th Infantry Division; Command Sergeant Major for the United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, US Forces Korea and Eighth US Army; and Command Sergeant Major for the US Army Sergeants Major Academy, from where he retired in 1985. His career is marked by his contributions to NCO development.
Hampton’s decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal.
USARPAC postures and prepares the force for unified land operations, responds to threats, sustains and protects the force, and builds military relationships that develop partner defense capacity in order to contribute to a stable and secure U.S. Pacific Command area of responsibility.
