Aloha! I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 5th Battlefield Coordination Detachment (BCD) and to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPH-H). You will find your assignment in the 5th BCD to be professionally rewarding and JBPH-H a premier location to serve.
Duty in the 5th BCD will provide numerous professionally rewarding experiences. As a vital link between the Army Service Component and Joint Forces Air Component Commanders, the 5th BCD is directly involved in numerous joint and combined exercises spanning the Pacific theater of operations. You will work side by side with Airmen, Marines, Sailors, and fellow Soldiers from the United States Armed Forces as well as service members from many of our partner nations, all working together as one team with one fight. You will learn to integrate your tactical skills, proficiency and knowledge of the Army Battle Command Systems (ABCS), and leadership talents as an Army Soldier in a joint-like operational level assignment. You will undoubtedly have a personally and professionally rewarding experience as a member of the detachment. In short, you will find the 5th BCD at the epicenter of any joint fight in the Pacific theater.
Hawai’i has much to offer and is a wonderful place to explore and enjoy the spectacular wonders of nature. Centrally located on the island of Oahu, JBPH-H is easily accessible and offers housing communities, golf courses, a beach, two marinas, two large commissaries, two large exchange stores, and within close proximity of medical facilities. The base is home to the Pacific Air Force and the Navy Pacific Command. Much of the base resides on historic property which pre-dates the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor; some landmarks still bear the scars of war.
As you plan your move to Hawai’i, I invite you and your family members to visit the links found on the 5th BCD web site. There you will find useful information regarding schools, housing, medical facilities, and other on-island programs and links. Once your assignment to the 5th BCD is official, a sponsor will contact you to ensure you and your family has a smooth arrival.
Again, I want to extend a warm aloha and welcome to you and your family, and I look forward to serving with you on the 5th BCD team.
United in Victory!

As the senior liaison unit for the Commander, United States Army Forces (ARFOR) operating in the Pacific theater to the Joint Force Air Component Commander (JFACC) for the United States Pacific Command, the 5th BCD facilitates the integration of air power with ARFOR ground operations through the coordination of air support and the exchange of operational and intelligence information. The BCD ensures that the JFACC and 613th Air Operations Center (AOC), Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, are aware of the ARFOR Commander's intent, scheme of maneuver, and requirements for air support.
