A native of Rome, New York, LTC Gobrick was commissioned in the Ordnance Corps through the Cornell University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Program in May 1992. He holds a degree in Political Science/History from Keuka College, Keuka Park, NY and a Masters Degree in Education from Elmira College, Elmira, NY.
His military schooling includes, Ordnance Officer Basic Course (OBC), Quartermaster Officers Advanced Course (OAC), Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3), Army Maintenance Management Course, Inspector General Qualification Course, Logistics Executive Development Course (LEDC) (Honor Graduate), Support Operations Course, Command and General Staff College-Intermediate Level Education (CGSC-ILE), Joint Logistics Course and, Airborne School. LTC Gobrick has also been selected for attendance at the Air War College in Birmingham, Alabama which he has deferred until after Battalion Command.
LTC Gobrick has served in a variety of command and staff positions beginning as a Platoon Leader and later, Maintenance Control Officer with the 969thth Maintenance Company in Horseheads, NY. In 1997, LTC Gobrick entered active duty as an Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) Soldier and was assigned Fort Polk, LA as a Logistics Officer with the 1275th Logistics Support Battalion. In 1999, he was assigned to the 164th Corps Support Group (CSG) in Mesa, AZ as the Automotive/Armaments Maintenance Officer before heading to Fort Hamilton, NY to take command of the 449th Maintenance Company. After completing Company command, he was selected to serve as a Detailed Inspector General with the 90th Regional Readiness Command (RRC) in N. Little Rock, Arkansas. He then deployed to Kuwait to serve as the Inspector General for the 143rd Transportation Command.
In 2007, LTC Gobrick was selected to command the Regional Training Site-Maintenance in Fort Devens, MA where he served until departing for Fort Leavenworth, KS to attend CGSC-ILE. In 2009, LTC Gobrick completed CGSC-ILE and was assigned to the 377th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), Belle Chasse, LA where he began his tour as a Logistics Operations Officer, deploying to Haiti in support of Operation Unified Response (OUR) in January, 2010. He was then detailed to United States Army South (ARSOUTH), Fort Sam Houston, TX where he served as a Liaison Officer/Sustainment Plans Officer in the ARSOUTH G4. LTC Gobrick returned from Fort Sam Houston where he culminated his tour with the 377th TSC as the Chief of Training and Readiness/Deputy G7.
LTC Gobrick’s decorations and badges include the Meritorious Service Medals (4 OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Humanitarian Service Medal, the Armed Forces Services Medal, the Army Superior Unit Award and the Parachutist Badge.
LTC Gobrick is married to the former Dawn Roberts of DeRuyter, New York. They have three children; John Jr., 12 years old, Mark, 9 years old, and, Timothy, 4 years old.
